What is sin?
Sin separates us from God. It doesn’t take faith—or even religion—for someone to recognize that our world is broken. People are often selfish, prideful, lustful, or vain, and those are only a few examples. The Bible identifies these and many other attitudes and actions as sin.
Sin isn’t just a small mistake or a simple mess-up. It separates us from our Creator and is a damning disease with only one cure.
RECEIVING the cure
The Bible makes it clear that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). If we are all guilty, then we all need to be saved. We all need a cure for this insufferable disease that brings eternal death.
That cure is Jesus Christ. Our salvation is Jesus Christ. Our hope is Jesus Christ.
Jesus wasn’t merely a man who lived, nor was He simply a great teacher or rabbi. He was—and is—God with us. He came to earth, lived a perfect and sinless life, and willingly died the death that sinners deserved—our death—so that everyone who repents, believes, and places their faith in Him would be saved. Through His death and resurrection, God offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life to all who trust in Christ (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 5:8; Romans 10:9–10; Ephesians 2:8–10).
